Instead of relying on classic waveforms, samples, or wavetables, FRACTAOS is based on fractals: mathematical shapes whose structure repeats at different scales, carrying something complex, shifting, and almost organic. This is the logic that Fractaos turns into sound, in real time.

The module brings together a main fractal and a secondary fractal primitive. The first one provides the core sonic material; the second can modulate it, distort it, animate it, or make it drift. Everything is computed in real time across 8 fractal oscillators, organized into 4 driver/follower voices, producing dense, evolving timbres that can sometimes become unstable, but always remain playable — well, almost…

Each curve can be selected and then sculpted through its chaos and depth parameters. Fractaos offers 20 algorithms: 14 geometric or iterative fractals, often tonal and reproducible, and 6 Texture curves designed for pads, drones, noisy masses, and more experimental atmospheres.

The relationship between the two fractals then opens up a wide sonic territory: morphing, detune, chords in Drone mode, formant extraction, resonant fractal filtering, simplified FM modulation, an LFO derived from the primitive, internal envelopes, and offsets applied to the main parameters.

Fractaos can be played as a 4-voice polyphonic oscillator, via MIDI or CV/Gate, but also as a drone generator in which all 8 oscillators remain active at all times. Its MULTI mode allows a different preset to be assigned to each voice, with each voice responding to its own MIDI channel: Fractaos then becomes a true multitimbral fractal expander.

With its 8 CV inputs with attenuators, 4 Trig inputs, 4 1 V/oct inputs, MIDI implementation with velocity and aftertouch, polyphonic ADSR envelope with adjustable curve, and SD-card preset system, Fractaos was designed as a complete instrument: capable of producing precise, expressive timbres as well as moving, noisy, or truly experimental textures.
