Fractaos is a stereo polyphonic oscillator built on fractal synthesis.
Made for Eurorack but designed to work on its own as well, it produces precise, playable timbres as readily as freer, shifting, experimental textures. It also carries a polyphonic ADSR envelope with a curve function, so it can be used as a complete voice.
Its architecture rests on eight oscillators arranged into four voices of polyphony, and on the interaction between fractal waveforms and primitives that modulate, distort and evolve them in real time. A Drone mode keeps all eight oscillators running permanently.
The fractal primitive can also serve as a modulation source, acting on simplified FM, the LFO, morphing, detune, chords in Drone mode, or on texture processing such as formant extraction and resonant filtering.
Fractaos has 8 bipolar CV inputs to modulate the main parameters, 4 Trig/Gate inputs, 4 1V/oct inputs, and a MIDI input handling polyphony, velocity and aftertouch.
Every parameter can be stored in the internal presets, with several thousand slots available.
This update adds five percussion curves: Kick, Tom, Hi-Hat, Snare and Cymbal. Each has its own character and can be made more unstable through the chaos and depth parameters. You can build fairly regular percussion, but also hits that evolve, distort or vary slightly with every trigger.
Version 1.5 also brings several improvements: direct access to the presets with the PREV button; direct access to MULTI mode with the NEXT button; envelope times extended to 8 seconds for attack and decay, and 12 seconds for release; more responsive envelope adjustment and preset recall; volume control for the LIVE tracks in MULTI mode.
